Kroger Investing Nearly $40 Million in New North Texas Supermarket as Dallas Suburbs Expand
Kroger is investing nearly $40 million in a new Marketplace supermarket in Princeton, Texas, bringing approximately 200 jobs and expanded grocery options to one of the fastest-growing communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
The Cincinnati-based grocer broke ground on the new store on July 15. The supermarket will be part of the Princeton Town Center development, a 66-acre retail complex on the northwest corner of Beauchamp Boulevard and U.S. Highway 380. The store is anticipated to open in late 2027.
A Strategic Investment in Collin County
"Kroger is making a big investment in Collin County because it is one of the most vibrant growth markets in Texas," said Rudy DiPietro, president of Kroger's Texas division. "As more families choose to call this area home, Kroger is growing with them by creating new job opportunities, greater access to fresh and affordable food and providing a shopping experience our customers expect."
DiPietro and Princeton Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
Jobs and Economic Impact
The new store is expected to create approximately 200 new jobs offering competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and retirement pension opportunities. The investment strengthens Princeton's local economy while providing career opportunities for area residents.
Part of a Broader North Texas Expansion
The Princeton store is the third new Kroger Marketplace to break ground this year in the region, following groundbreakings in McKinney and Fate. It marks the fifth Kroger Marketplace under construction in North Texas, joining locations in Anna, Fate, McKinney, and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth.
Kroger has served Texas communities for more than 70 years and plans to refresh 27 stores across the state in 2026.
Growing Dallas Suburbs
Princeton, located in Collin County northeast of Dallas, has been among the fastest-growing cities in North Texas as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex continues to expand outward. The new Kroger Marketplace reflects the broader wave of retail development following residential growth across the region's northern suburbs.
